Maya Jama has reportedly signed on for a third series of Netflix's The Gentlemen, having made a strong impression in her scripted acting debut in series two. The news follows the show's cast publicly dismissing speculation that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, might join the cast, after reports suggested director Guy Ritchie had held preliminary talks with her about a possible role.

Jama, 32, plays Aisha, wife of a criminal associate of Theo James's character Eddie Horniman, and is said to have confirmed her return at this week's premiere, with a source praising her as "a natural on set". At the London premiere of series two, cast members including Vinnie Jones, Ray Winstone and Hugh Bonneville rejected the Meghan rumours as "hot air" and clever marketing, while Theo James called it a "spurious rumour", though a Daily Mail source claims the Duchess has not given up hope of landing a part now she is back in the UK. Ritchie himself declined to comment on the red carpet.
