‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Star’s R-Rated Fantasy Remake Officially Takes Over Paramount+
Jeremy Renner, who will not appear as Hawkeye in Avengers: Doomsday, is seeing renewed attention for his earlier film Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. The 2013 fantasy action film has become one of Paramount+’s ten most-watched films in the United States, showing how older titles can find a new audience through streaming.
Renner joked that the Avengers would probably lose without him, after saying he was not invited to join the upcoming film. In Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, he and Gemma Arterton play the fairy-tale siblings as adult witch hunters. The film earned $226 million worldwide on a $50 million budget, despite receiving a 17% Rotten Tomatoes score.
