Manchester City teenager Ryan McAidoo impressed new manager Enzo Maresca despite City losing a pre-season friendly against Inter Milan on penalties in Hong Kong. Maresca praised the 18-year-old’s aggressive, direct wing play and decision-making, suggesting he could earn opportunities if he continues to develop well.

McAidoo came on at half-time, hit the post and sent another effort narrowly wide as he became City’s standout performer in front of more than 40,000 supporters. Signed from Chelsea two years ago, he scored on his first-team debut in last season’s 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter; Maresca said the club will assess him and other young players during pre-season before deciding between first-team involvement and a possible loan.
