McTominay returns as Penrice earns first Scotland call
Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and Che Adams have returned to Scotland’s squad for the final two Nations League matches, while James Penrice has earned his first call-up. Scotland need at least four points to retain any chance of reaching the promotion play-offs, following home defeats by Switzerland and Slovenia.
The 26-player squad also includes uncapped Kristi Montgomery, with Scott McKenna and Kenny McLean absent through injury. Penrice, 27, has impressed since joining Rangers on loan; Blackburn midfielder Montgomery, 22, has started all but one of his side’s Championship matches this season. McTominay has scored four times in seven appearances since a minor heart procedure, and captain Andy Robertson could reach 103 caps if he plays both matches, against North Macedonia on 13 November and Switzerland on 16 November.
In short
- McTominay, Tierney and Adams return to Scotland’s squad.
- James Penrice earns his first call-up.
- Scotland need at least four points to keep play-off hopes alive.
