Mediators see progress in Iran war ceasefire restoration push

The Hill · 3 hours ago

Qatar- and Pakistan-led mediators say they are making progress towards restoring an interim ceasefire between the United States and Iran after recent exchanges of fire undermined it. A renewed agreement could curb further regional escalation and help address disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.

Two regional officials, speaking anonymously about sensitive talks, said mediators were attempting to bridge remaining differences between Washington and Tehran. The earlier truce was reached in April but was declared over by President Trump earlier this month; drone attacks and other military activity have continued despite the diplomatic push.
