A cat named Betty has been given the title of "Junior Mouse Catcher" at Sutton Coldfield Station near Birmingham, in recognition of her pest-control work on behalf of West Midlands Railway (WMR). Once a feral stray, Betty was adopted in 2025 by Alex Light, owner of Folklore Coffee and Bagels on the station's platform 2, after being found living rough with three kittens in a nearby apartment block; the kittens were rehomed while Betty stayed with Mr Light and became domesticated.

Betty keeps a strict routine mirroring the cafe's hours, waking at 5.30am to patrol the station before greeting commuters from around 7.30am, and returning for meals, further patrols and an early night depending on the weather. WMR regional station manager Zoe Hodgins praised her "cat-titude", while Mr Light noted her popularity with customers and her own Instagram following. Betty ranks below George, an orange tabby who has been "Senior Mouse Catcher" at Stourbridge Junction Station since 2021, has over 100,000 social media followers, and even had a train named after him in 2025.
