Meghan Markle’s reported casting in a possible third season of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen has allegedly been withdrawn following strong backlash in the UK, according to royal commentator Tina Brown. Markle’s team denies that she was dropped, making the account disputed; neither Netflix nor WME commented publicly.

The report followed claims that Markle was in advanced talks for a role written for her in season three, although the series has not yet been renewed. The part would have been her first acting role since leaving the profession in 2017 after becoming engaged to Prince Harry; season two, starring Theo James, premieres on 3 September.
