Melania Trump and LSU announce a scholarship program for students who were in foster care
Melania Trump and Louisiana State University have announced a multimillion-dollar partnership to fund scholarships for students who have been in foster care. The initiative aims to improve access to higher education and give young people greater stability and opportunity.
More than $7 million in private donations will establish an endowment, including $5 million from Baton Rouge-based MMR Group and over $2 million from LSU Foundation donors. LSU has 14 participating scholars and the University of Alabama has nine; the wider programme supports 100 students at 26 schools this semester. LSU President Wade Rousse said students’ circumstances should not prevent them from accessing higher education.
