Melbourne dance teacher charged over alleged abuse of two students

Daily Mail ·

A Melbourne dance teacher has been charged with 33 alleged child sexual offences involving two students she was responsible for. The allegations span almost nine years and include sexual touching, communicating with a child with the alleged intention of leading to sexual activity, and sexual penetration; the case is subject to a suppression order to protect the teacher’s identity.

Court charge sheets say alleged offending involving one complainant occurred between 2015 and 2018, while 19 charges concerning a second complainant relate to incidents in 2024. Victoria Police charged the woman on 30 September. She was granted bail with conditions to live at a fixed address and not contact witnesses, and is due to appear in court again.

In Victoria, sexual offences involving children are investigated by police and heard in the state’s courts. A charge means a person has been accused of an offence; it does not establish that the offence occurred.

A suppression order can restrict the publication of information, such as a person’s identity, to protect people involved in a case. Bail allows an accused person to remain in the community while a case proceeds, subject to conditions set by the court.
