Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has confirmed that its animated feature "Margie Claus," directed by Kirk DeMicco, will open in cinemas on 12 November 2027, having been shifted a week later than originally planned. The reschedule means the film avoids a head-to-head clash with Universal's rival holiday comedy "Naughty," starring Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage, which is now set for 7 November 2027. The studio also confirmed the film's full voice cast, rounding out a project that has been in development for some time.

Melissa McCarthy stars as Margie, Santa's devoted wife, who journeys to a perilous South Pole to rescue her husband and save Christmas. She is joined by Jim Gaffigan as Santa and Andrew Scott as Jack Frost, alongside Cole Escola, Annie Mumolo, Octavia Spencer, Maria Bakalova and others. The script comes from Ben Falcone and Damon Jones, with Meghan Trainor writing original songs; "Margie Claus" will now share its opening weekend with Paramount's "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow," starring Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is developing an animated film called "Margie Claus", built around the premise that Santa's wife, Margie, is the one who sets off on a perilous rescue mission to save Christmas after Santa runs into trouble. It is directed by Kirk DeMicco and features a starry voice cast, with Melissa McCarthy as Margie, Jim Gaffigan as Santa, and Andrew Scott as Jack Frost, alongside Octavia Spencer and Maria Bakalova. Pop singer Meghan Trainor is writing original songs for the soundtrack.

The project sits within a crowded field of holiday-themed animated films competing for cinema slots and family audiences, with studios such as Universal and Paramount also releasing seasonal titles around the same period. Release timing matters commercially in this genre, since Christmas films rely heavily on a concentrated window each year and can be affected by how closely they land to rival releases.
