Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne, Butthole Surfers bassist JD Pinkus and Big Business drummer Coady Willis have joined forces with Clinton Jacob of Mr. Phyzzz to form a new group, Gatta Morta. The band released its debut EP, "Burn Witch Burn," today via Amphetamine Reptile Records, alongside a visualiser for the track "Black Hall," with the single also issued digitally through Ipecac Recordings.

The four-track EP comprises "Taco Bellboy," "Victims of the Universe," "Black Hall" and "Clear Smoke," and blends heavy, riff-led sections with more psychedelic, warped passages. Osborne said the idea came to him while touring last autumn, describing it as "solidly weird rock music that needs to happen," while Pinkus and Jacob both spoke of long-standing musical chemistry finally coming together. Osborne plays guitar and sings, Pinkus handles bass and vocals, Willis is on drums and vocals, and Jacob contributes guitar and vocals.
