Mercedes Ron Discusses Prime Video’s New YA Romantic Thriller ‘Drawn Together’ and What’s Next for Her

The Hollywood Reporter · 3 hours ago

Amazon Prime Video and production company Pokeepsie Films have released "Drawn Together", a romantic thriller based on a novel by bestselling Spanish YA author Mercedes Ron, extending the pair's growing slate of screen adaptations of her work. The film, directed by Óscar Pedraza and starring Ester Expósito and Hugo Diego Garcia, forms part of a wider "House of Ron" partnership that has already produced the hugely popular Culpables trilogy and its English-language "London" spin-offs, cementing Ron as one of Prime Video's most bankable literary sources.

Expósito plays Marfil Cortés, a wealthy businessman's daughter in New York who, after being kidnapped, is assigned a bodyguard played by Garcia, with romantic tension developing amid ongoing threats in Spain. The Culpables films previously drew a combined 100 million views worldwide, making them Prime Video's most-watched Spanish-language and international original series, while a third "London" instalment is slated for 2027. Ron, who signed a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios this summer, said she is closely involved in casting and scripting, and described "Drawn Together" as her most mature and complex story to date, with a second film in the story planned.
