The Met Office is the UK’s national weather service, which uses observations and computer forecasts to predict conditions across the country. Its regional forecasts describe how weather may vary from place to place, rather than giving one temperature for the whole UK.

A slow-moving band of rain can leave nearby areas with very different conditions. In this forecast, parts of the north are expected to be wetter and cooler while areas farther south may have sunshine and higher temperatures, before the rain shifts south-east.
