Meta’s Muse AI chatbot now readily exposes its virtual machine’s filesystem to users, despite initially refusing similar requests on security grounds. Meta says this access is intentional, reflecting Muse’s design as a cloud-based Linux computer that users can operate, rather than a conventional chatbot.

Previously, Muse provided only a text-based directory listing and declined to copy its root directory. It now offers a clickable browser with root access and can produce a full filesystem archive with secrets removed. The change may reflect product updates or Meta’s effort to make Muse’s “computer in the cloud” model more reliable, although the company has not explained the initial contradiction.
