Videos have emerged showing Spanish soldiers using batons to beat migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, prompting condemnation from the Spanish Government. The city experienced a surge of approximately 80,000 migrants crossing from Morocco in late July, with roughly 15,000 remaining in the enclave. Following the release of these videos by local media, Spain's Prime Minister's office expressed "complete dismay and condemnation" and announced an investigation into the alleged use of excessive force.

The footage documents multiple incidents of soldiers beating individual migrants, including a young boy who was held down whilst being struck with batons. Tensions in Ceuta remain high, with social media calls circulating for additional migrant crossings to occur during Moroccan elections, thousands of local residents protesting at the border, and healthcare workers planning strike action. Police have also been deployed to manage unrest at detention centres and migrant shelters, with several incidents of rioting reported.
