Meta restores Muse sharing after securing exposed artefact links

The Verge ·

Meta has re-enabled sharing in Muse after fixing a problem that made some public links to shared content easy to discover. The issue matters because researchers found pages containing sensitive business and financial information, prompting Meta to pause sharing while it investigated.

Researchers at Claroc said shared Muse URLs were based on conversation titles and recorded in public DNS. Meta says the flaw affected links to “artifacts”, such as documents and images, rather than chat sharing. Previously shared artifacts now have new URLs; visitors to old links are asked to get the replacement from the person who shared them.
