Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 brings 4K 60fps to MGS4 and Peace Walker, Konami announces, but Switch 1 still gets saddled with 30fps

GamesRadar+ · 4 hours ago

Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, a follow-up compilation that will bring Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to current platforms with 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second support. The announcement extends Konami's ongoing effort to preserve and modernise the classic stealth-action series for a new generation of hardware, following the release of the first Master Collection volume.

However, the enhanced visual upgrades will not extend to the original Nintendo Switch, which will reportedly be limited to 30fps due to the console's hardware constraints, unlike more powerful platforms that will benefit from the smoother frame rate and sharper resolution. This creates a notable disparity in how the collection performs depending on which system players choose, with Switch 1 owners getting a comparatively reduced experience.

  • Konami announces Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2.
  • MGS4 and Peace Walker get 4K, 60fps upgrades.
  • Original Switch console capped at 30fps only.
