Michael Wynn-Jones, the journalist and husband of renowned TV chef Delia Smith, has died peacefully at his home aged 85. As honorary life president of Norwich City Football Club, Wynn-Jones was a significant figure in the Norfolk club's rise to prominence, working behind the scenes alongside his wife to help guide the club through multiple promotions to the Premier League. His death represents the loss of a trusted and influential figure in both the footballing and journalistic worlds.

Wynn-Jones and Smith had been married for more than 50 years, living together near Stowmarket in Suffolk. The former Daily Mirror and Spectator journalist, who founded his own publishing company, began attending Norwich City matches in April 1955 at the age of 13, developing a lifelong devotion to the club that would eventually see him play a key advisory role in its boardroom.
