Microsoft 365 disruption hits some European users as Office 2021 support ends
Microsoft 365 services were disrupted for some European customers as Office 2021 LTSC reached the end of support. The outage affected access through Microsoft’s Global Secure Access service, underlining the risks for organisations that rely on cloud services for daily work.
Microsoft said part of GSA infrastructure was performing below acceptable thresholds and was applying traffic and performance changes; it reported signs of recovery. Affected services included Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams and Windows 365 Cloud PCs. Office 2021 LTSC will continue to work, but customers needing support may consider Microsoft 365 or the on-premises Office LTSC 2024.

Microsoft 365 is a subscription service that gives organisations access to work tools such as Outlook email, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint. Many customers use Microsoft’s Global Secure Access service to connect people to these online tools and other company systems.
Office LTSC is a version of Microsoft Office sold for organisations that want a fixed set of features rather than regular updates. Office 2021 LTSC can still be used after its support period ends, but Microsoft no longer provides the same technical help or security updates; Office LTSC 2024 is its newer one-off-purchase version.
The disruption matters because organisations may depend on these services for everyday communication and access to files. It also highlights the different arrangements involved in using cloud subscriptions and software installed on a company’s own computers.
