Microsoft has confirmed it is building an AI "super app" that will unify Copilot's chat, coding and agentic capabilities into a single product, with a launch planned for later this year. CEO Satya Nadella made the announcement during a Wednesday earnings call, saying the app would cover "both consumer and commercial experiences" as Copilot evolves from a chatbot into a broader suite of tools. The move reflects intensifying competition among AI firms to consolidate separate assistants and coding tools into one integrated platform.

Nadella said the app would bring together Copilot chat, "Cowork" and "Autopilots" features, including coding functionality, describing it as "a major step forward." The announcement follows an earlier Fortune report indicating the app would merge Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Copilot Cowork and Autopilot, and comes shortly after OpenAI unveiled its own combined ChatGPT Work app, which pairs ChatGPT with its Codex coding tool. Microsoft also reported quarterly revenue of $90 billion (approximately £70 billion), driven largely by growth in its AI and cloud businesses.
