Microsoft is merging its consumer Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications into one unified “Microsoft Copilot” app, a step towards a broader ‘super app’ planned for later this year. The change should simplify the experience for people who use personal and work accounts, including removing duplicate Copilot icons from Windows taskbars and system trays.

The mobile and web rollout is due to begin in mid-August, followed by Windows and Mac in mid-September, with some Windows Insiders receiving updates sooner. Existing chats and content will transfer or merge where appropriate, but personal and work data will remain separate and enterprise security controls will not change; podcasts, Deep Research and Group Chat content will cease to be available after 18 August.
