Mike Flanagan’s R-Rated Batman Spin-Off Officially Premieres in 24 Hours
DC’s R-rated horror film *Clayface* opens in US cinemas on 23 October, bringing one of Batman’s best-known villains into the DC Universe as the lead of a body-horror story. Directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, it matters as a darker, horror-led take on a familiar comic-book character.
Tom Rhys Harries plays actor Matt Hagen, whose career is derailed by disfigurement before an experimental treatment leads to his transformation into Clayface. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan and David Dencik. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 76% critics’ score from 99 reviews, while domestic opening-weekend projections put the film at $25 million to $30 million.
