Spanish filmmaker Mikel Gurrea's latest feature, "Saints," has secured international distribution deals ahead of its competition debut at the San Sebastián Film Festival this week. The film will receive theatrical releases in both Spain and Italy, with Elastica Films handling the Spanish release and Movies Inspired planning an Italian release for Spring 2027, signalling strong industry confidence in Gurrea's work.

"Saints" follows Lali, a drifter and thief who returns to Barcelona to care for her estranged mother whilst becoming entangled with a charismatic gang leader and her community of religious artefact thieves. The film stars Victoria Luengo, who recently appeared opposite Javier Bardem in the Cannes competition title "The Beloved," alongside Ariadna Gil and Eulàlia Ramon. Gurrea's previous feature, "Suro," won the Fipresci Prize at San Sebastián in 2022, establishing him as one of Spain's most significant contemporary filmmakers.
