Millions of ladders recalled nationwide after numerous reports of head injuries, skull fractures
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling more than 3.6 million Little Giant ladders after reports that their height-adjustment locks can fail, allowing ladders to retract and creating a fall hazard. The recall matters because reported injuries include serious head trauma, and users are being told to stop using affected ladders until they receive and apply warning labels.
The recall covers 11 ladder types and more than 130 models, sold for about $100 to $1,000. Little Giant has received 39 reports of faulty Rapid Locks, including 25 reports of ladders retracting; 19 of those incidents caused injuries. The company is sending repair kits, while the CPSC says eligible customers may choose a replacement ladder or a refund based on purchase date.
In short
- More than 3.6 million Little Giant ladders are being recalled.
- Faulty locks have been linked to 19 injury incidents.
- Stop using affected ladders until warning labels are applied.
