Minecraft Dungeons 2 Goes from Good Baby Diablo to Great Junior Diablo
Minecraft Dungeons 2 builds on the original’s simple, co-operative take on Diablo-style action role-playing, adding depth while preserving its accessibility. After several hours playing with their children, the reviewer found the sequel richer and more flexible without losing the immediate fun of fighting enemies, making it a stronger introduction to the genre for younger players.
The sequel adds separate equipment slots for head, chest, legs and feet, along with upgradeable talismans and more varied randomised loot. Combat includes tougher “soul-corrupted” enemies that encourage teamwork, while a new surreal dimension called the Sift and an open world map offer fresh places to explore and quests to complete. The review notes that navigating the map can be awkward, even with the new jump button.
- The sequel adds depth while keeping its co-operative play accessible.
- New gear, randomised loot and tougher enemies expand combat.
- An open map and the Sift bring new exploration.
