Polygon · 1 hour ago

Valheim, the Viking-themed survival game from Swedish studio Iron Gate AB, will exit early access and launch its full 1.0 version on 9 September, nearly five years after debuting on Steam in 2021. The game has become one of the most popular titles in the survival genre, often compared to Minecraft, having sold more than 12 million copies and picked up numerous awards while cultivating a dedicated fanbase during its extended early access period.

Set in a procedurally generated world drawn from Norse mythology, Valheim tasks players with exploring, gathering resources and building settlements while fighting through a dodge-and-block combat system, with each biome culminating in a boss battle. Over its five years in early access, the game has received three major updates adding new biomes, bosses, items and NPCs, and only one biome remains unreleased ahead of the full launch, which will be available to all players from 9 September.
