A male passenger aboard the Carnival Panorama cruise ship jumped overboard whilst the vessel was returning from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Long Beach, California on Saturday. The incident occurred on the final full day of a week-long sailing that had departed California on 13 September. The cruise line initiated immediate search and rescue procedures, including review of onboard CCTV footage and notification of both US and Mexican coast guards.

The missing passenger was first reported at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday, with repeated announcements over the following hours. The ship reversed course at 3 p.m. and conducted a shipwide search, with all guests confined to their staterooms whilst security verified their presence. At 5 p.m., the captain confirmed the passenger had jumped overboard after reviewing camera footage, at which point local authorities took over the search and rescue operation. The ship resumed its journey to Long Beach, where it was expected to arrive at 9 a.m., whilst Carnival Cruise Line provided support to the passenger's family and travelling companions.
