Modest Mouse Deliver Good Vibes and Birthday Wishes at New York’s Rooftop at Pier 17: Photos + Setlist
Modest Mouse played a relaxed, upbeat show at New York’s Rooftop at Pier 17 on 8 October, with frontman Isaac Brock in good spirits. The concert showed the band’s autumn tour was going well despite a recent line-up change, and offered songs spanning their career alongside material from their new album.
Brock added “Cowboy Dan” after a fan asked for it, replacing planned closer “Shit Luck”. He also paused to call his friend Dave on his 86th birthday, inviting the crowd to sing “Happy Birthday” over FaceTime. The set included six songs from *An Eraser and a Maze*, as well as favourites such as “King Rat”, “Missed the Boat” and “Ocean Breathes Salty”.

Modest Mouse are an American rock band formed in Washington state in the 1990s. Singer and guitarist Isaac Brock is the group’s best-known member, and their music ranges from jagged, energetic rock to more melodic songs.
Their long career means a concert can mix familiar tracks with newer material. The band released An Eraser and a Maze in 2025, and its songs feature in their current touring set. The group has also recently had a change in its line-up, a common challenge for bands that continue touring over many years.
Live shows often give performers room to respond to the crowd, while the setlist can show how a band balances new work with older songs. Rooftop at Pier 17 is an outdoor concert venue on Manhattan’s waterfront, where the New York performance took place.
