CCTV footage has captured a Notting Hill resident furiously swiping her walking stick at a Carnival reveller as he urinated against her wall over the bank holiday weekend, highlighting the ongoing problem of anti-social behaviour affecting homeowners near the festival route. The anonymous homeowner, whose £600,000 flat requires professional cleaning each year, said the smell of urine lingers for days, and that his family now avoids being at home during Carnival altogether, with his partner and daughter flying to Spain to escape it.

The homeowner said this is not a new issue, having previously filmed revellers urinating and using nitrous oxide in his garden in 2023, and that newly installed fencing this year failed to deter trespassers. Carnival's 60th anniversary event saw a record 636 arrests, up from 528 in 2024, for offences including drug and weapons possession, violent and sexual assaults, with facial recognition technology leading to 121 arrests and the identification of 86 registered sex offenders. The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea spends an estimated £1million annually on clean-up and staffing, recouping around £300,000 in trader fees, with streets left strewn with rubbish including food waste and drinks cans after the event.
