Raymond Williams, 61, has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for murdering his estranged wife Tania Williams, 49, in Norwich, Norfolk. The killing occurred after Williams saw Tania talking to another man whilst she was on a night out; consumed by jealousy, he tracked her through multiple bars before cutting her throat with a craft knife and leaving her dead outside her home. The case highlights the fatal consequences of domestic obsession and intimate partner violence.

CCTV footage played during the 17-day trial at Norwich Crown Court showed Williams systematically pursuing Tania through various venues before locating her at a nightclub on Queen Street on 17 January. Despite denying the murder, a jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict after hearing evidence that he showed "forensic awareness" by switching off his phone and sending false messages about her whereabouts to conceal his involvement. Police arrested Williams at his accommodation within two hours, discovering he had changed his clothes. The judge noted the murder was connected to the breakdown of their marriage and that upon release, Williams would be "a very old man."
