A man who was kidnapped and abused by a gang in Lincolnshire managed to escape by leaping from a first-floor window into a tree before fleeing on foot and flagging down a passing police car. The victim had been lured to an address in Market Rasen following the breakdown of a past relationship, where he was assaulted, threatened and humiliated for hours while his captors filmed the abuse. He was later moved to a property in Lincoln, where he made his dramatic escape, running directly into the path of an oncoming patrol car and pleading for help.

CCTV captured the victim clambering from the window and jumping into a tree at 11.23am on 5 July last year, before police arrested two of his kidnappers at gunpoint after a car chase; three further suspects were arrested that evening. Five people appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on 28 August: Brad'Lee Ranyard and Jackson Nicholson were each jailed for nine years for kidnap and false imprisonment, while Craig Ranyard, Danielle Thompson and Nathan Gladwell received sentences of between three and five years for false imprisonment. All five were also handed indefinite restraining orders barring contact with the victim and his family.
