Moment Range Rover driver rams car and ploughs into building in rage after row over a woman
A jealous driver has been jailed after CCTV captured him ramming a car and crashing into a building outside a pub in Bradford, in an attack described in court as fuelled by "rage and anger". Gavin Thorpe, 44, a personal trainer, launched the rampage after a woman refused his offer of a lift home and asked two other men for a lift instead, prompting him to reverse his Range Rover into their Seat before smashing into another vehicle and then a stone building.
The incident happened outside The Park pub on the evening of 15 June, with footage showing Thorpe reversing at speed into the Seat, narrowly missing the two men as they fled, before demolishing part of the building's structure. He shouted abuse and threw a brick at the men before running off; one suffered neck and back injuries requiring an X-ray, while the woman sustained minor injuries. Thorpe, of no fixed address, was jailed for 23 months at Bradford Crown Court after admitting dangerous driving, criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and was banned from driving for three years.
