A married couple in Astley, Warwickshire, have had their taxpayer-funded Motability car seized and their contract terminated after they were caught on private CCTV dumping bucket loads of waste from the vehicle at the roadside. The pair, who had parked a black Vauxhall people carrier on land they did not realise was privately monitored, drove off after fly-tipping but were subsequently identified through a joint investigation by Warwickshire Police and North Warwickshire Borough Council.

The incident took place on Howe Green Lane on 30 May, with security cameras capturing the man and woman unloading debris before leaving the scene. Both admitted responsibility for illegally dumping waste and were fined £1,000 each, while police seized their vehicle under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Motability Operations confirmed its special investigations unit had looked into the case and terminated the couple's contract, while a local councillor praised the "partnership working" that led to their identification and urged the public to keep reporting fly-tipping.
