During a severe nor'easter storm that struck the East Coast over the weekend, a New Jersey resident captured remarkable footage of a baby dogfish shark swimming through the flooded streets of Surf City in his driveway. Drew Procaccino documented the unusual occurrence on Saturday as the harmless shark glided through muddy floodwater, eventually making its way towards Barnegat Bay. An expert from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries confirmed the creature was a dogfish shark, which are common to the western Atlantic Ocean and pose no threat to humans due to their lack of sharp teeth.

The nor'easter caused significant damage across New Jersey and the broader Northeast, with the state receiving at least seven inches of rain over three days, triggering widespread flooding and a declaration of emergency across eight counties. The storm's powerful winds downed trees, caused one death and injured four people, whilst disrupting transport and power supplies across the region. Rail services were suspended due to fallen trees, flights were cancelled from major airports including Newark Liberty International, and numerous boats were washed ashore or damaged at docks and piers.
