Monday.com, the Israeli workplace software company, is laying off around 630 employees, roughly 20% of its workforce, as part of a restructuring effort to focus more heavily on artificial intelligence. The move follows the company's earlier pivot this year to make its AI Work Platform a central part of its product, reflecting a belief that enterprise customers increasingly want AI agents working alongside their staff rather than as a bolt-on feature.

The AI Work Platform includes a no-code app builder, a customisable AI agent, a workflow automation tool, and a chatbot capable of generating reports and updating dashboards. Monday.com expects to incur between $45 million and $55 million in restructuring charges. The layoffs place it among a growing number of major tech firms cutting jobs to redirect investment towards AI, with over 122,000 tech roles eliminated so far in 2026 and a record 78% of companies citing AI refocusing as a reason for job cuts this year, according to Layoffs.fyi.
