Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart has been told that a skin graft intended to repair her badly injured left leg has failed, leaving her devastated three months after the attack. The 35-year-old Sydney mother said the wound remains open and doctors are now trying a different treatment approach.

Stewart was attacked by a great white shark at Coogee Beach on 13 June and later had her left arm amputated below the elbow. She spent 10 days in a coma after being airlifted to hospital, while a skin graft was taken from her right leg; she is taking a temporary break from a vacuum-assisted wound device and hopes eventually to return to teaching.
