‘Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story’ Unveils First Look, Sets Netflix Release Date

The Hollywood Reporter · 4 hours ago

Netflix has confirmed the release date and shared first-look images for the fourth season of its true-crime anthology series "Monster," which this time focuses on Lizzie Borden, the woman acquitted of axing her father and stepmother to death in 1892. Ella Beatty takes the lead role, marking the franchise's first season built around a female "monster" after previous instalments dramatised Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers and Ed Gein.

All eight episodes of "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" will premiere on 17 September. The cast also includes Vicky Krieps as maid Bridget Sullivan, Rebecca Hall as stepmother Abby Borden, Charlie Hunnam as father Andrew Borden, alongside Billie Lourd, Joey Pollari, Sarah Paulson and Jessica Barden. Ian Brennan created and wrote the season, with Max Winkler directing all episodes, and Ryan Murphy among the executive producers; Beatty said the series explores "female rage and repression," which she found "strikingly relevant."
