Monstrous invasive python captured in Puerto Rico after trappers saw it strangling a pet cat
A professional exotic animal hunter captured an 18-foot-plus reticulated python in Puerto Rico on Monday, after it was reportedly seen eating a homeowner’s cat. The capture has drawn attention to concerns that non-native snakes may threaten local wildlife and domestic animals.
Kevin Pavlidis, known online as “Snakeaholic”, said the snake fled when he and his crew first arrived, and he found it after searching for about 20 minutes. He described grabbing its head before the team secured its tail, which he said the snake could use to pull away; he also said removing such snakes helps protect native wildlife and pets.
