Morgan Wallen Just Accomplished Something No Artist in the History of Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart Has Ever Done
Morgan Wallen’s “Been By Now” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, giving him four chart-toppers in 2026 alone. The milestone makes him the first country singer to score at least four No. 1s in three consecutive years, extending a run that also included 2024 and 2025.
Wallen has now earned 23 Country Airplay No. 1s in eight years, reaching that total faster than Luke Bryan, who took nearly a decade. He has recorded four or more No. 1 hits in a year four times, including 2023, while Garth Brooks did so in 1991 and 1993 and Luke Combs in 2021. Ella Langley also joined the group of artists with four No. 1s in a year, with “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, featuring Wallen, as her fourth.
In short
- “Been By Now” is Wallen’s fourth Country Airplay No. 1 of 2026.
- He is the first country singer with four No. 1s in three consecutive years.
- Wallen reached 23 Country Airplay No. 1s in eight years.
Explained simply
Billboard’s Country Airplay chart ranks country songs based on how often they are played on US country radio. A No. 1 is the most-played song on that chart for the week, so artists can earn several chart-toppers in a year as different songs gain radio play.
Morgan Wallen is a US country singer whose releases have regularly topped the chart. Other artists mentioned include Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Garth Brooks, who have also had multiple radio hits, and Ella Langley, a newer country singer who recorded a song with Wallen.
The chart offers one way to track a country artist’s success on radio over time. Comparing how many No. 1 songs artists have and how quickly they reach those totals gives context to Wallen’s run.
