Morrissey Cancels Las Vegas Residency Shows Days Before Opening Night

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Morrissey has cancelled his four-night residency at the Encore Theater in Wynn Las Vegas, just days before it was due to begin on 14 August, citing "unforeseen logistical issues." Ticket holders were notified by email on Friday 7 August, and Ticketmaster listings now confirm the event organiser cancelled the shows, though the singer's own website had not yet removed the dates and he had made no public comment. The sudden cancellation matters because it fits a well-established pattern of the former Smiths frontman abandoning or postponing concerts, raising doubts over the reliability of his upcoming tour commitments.

The scrapped dates were 14, 15, 18 and 19 August, and Morrissey's last live show was on 1 August in Porto, Portugal. Rolling Stone reported that in 2025 alone he cancelled 25 performances and postponed 11, following earlier incidents including a medication reaction that scrapped California dates and a "catatonic state" caused by sleep deprivation that halted a Valencia show in March. He still has US dates through the autumn, including Chicago's Riot Fest and Brooklyn's CBGB Festival, before a planned European run to close out the year, and released his 14th studio album, Make-Up Is a Lie, in March.

  • Reason given: "unforeseen logistical issues"; no comment from Morrissey yet
