Morrissey has paid tribute to his late manager Peter Katsis, who died on 6 August 2026 aged 69, reportedly from complications of congestive heart failure. Katsis was a prominent figure in the music industry, having managed acts including Smashing Pumpkins, Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg and Jane's Addiction, and the former Smiths frontman described him as "a very unusual star" while writing that "a world has ended".

In a lengthy Instagram post accompanied by a 1973 photograph of Katsis in drag at a New York Dolls gig, Morrissey praised his manager's warmth, unconventional charm and business instincts, recalling how he "raced to my side" after Morrissey's mother died in 2020 and swiftly arranged sessions with producer Andrew Watt that produced the still-unreleased album "Bonfire of Teenagers". Other tributes have come from Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, who called Katsis "a dear friend and extended member of our family" and credited him with helping drive the alternative rock movement of the 1980s and 1990s.
