Riot Fest has released its daily set schedule for its 2026 edition in Chicago, revealing that Morrissey will open for Tool on the Saturday night bill. The pairing has drawn attention for its incongruity, given the contrast between Morrissey's melancholic style and Tool's prog-metal sound, alongside speculation about possible friction given Morrissey's history of enforcing vegan-friendly conditions at his shows and Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan's past comments criticising vegan activists.

The schedule also throws up several other notable clashes and pairings: Iggy Pop and GWAR are booked to play simultaneously on the Friday night, while Tool's own set has been counter-programmed against Afroman and Nas. Organisers have arranged Chat Pile and Bad Religion as alternatives should Morrissey be unable to appear, following his recent cancellation of a Las Vegas residency. Elsewhere, 95-year-old William Shatner is set to perform on the Sunday, and John Lydon's Public Image Ltd will follow support act Angine de Poitrine on the Saturday.
