Mortal Shell 2 sells out of physical Revered Edition PS5 pre-orders as players rush to buy the highly-anticipated game on disc
Playstack, the publisher of upcoming Soulslike title Mortal Shell 2, has confirmed that pre-orders for the physical PS5 "Revered Edition" have sold out entirely, with stock reserved across a number of retailers ahead of the game's 20th August release. The Revered Edition was the only physical version exclusive to a single platform and included a steelcase, an artbook and fine art prints, and its rapid sell-out reflects strong consumer demand for the game ahead of launch, notably in a climate where physical releases are becoming rarer.
Playstack said it is unlikely further stock will be manufactured in time for release, and there is no guarantee of replenishment afterwards, as that decision rests with its distribution partner rather than the publisher itself. The standard £40 physical edition remains available, and PS5 is the only platform offering a disc version of the game at all. Anticipation for Mortal Shell 2 remains high, with a recent PC beta reportedly downloaded more than 500,000 times.
