A major UK survey has named Mercedes-Benz the most reliable car brand, with two of Britain's best-selling Chinese manufacturers, MG and BYD, ranking among the least dependable. The Auto Express Driver Power poll, based on responses from more than 100,000 owners rating their vehicles' reliability over the past year, offers buyers a data-driven guide to which brands are likely to prove trouble-free and which may bring added costs and inconvenience.

Mercedes topped the table with a reliability score of 92.42 per cent, narrowly ahead of Volvo on 91.43 per cent and Mazda on 91.26 per cent, and Mercedes was also rated the most satisfying brand to own overall. Jeep finished bottom of the reliability rankings, joined in the bottom ten by MG and BYD. Volvo's strong result came despite issues affecting around 10,000 UK owners of its EX30 electric SUV, who were told in December not to charge beyond 70 per cent due to overheating concerns, with many still awaiting replacement battery cells.
