Mother and boyfriend jailed for life for ‘sadistic’ murder of two-year-old Isabelle Welsh

Alexandra Walker and Harrison Simpson have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two-year-old Isabelle Welsh in Teesside. The court heard that Isabelle endured weeks of violence and sexual abuse before suffering a fatal head injury, while Walker delayed calling emergency services despite finding her critically injured.

Isabelle had 21 broken bones, 97 soft-tissue injuries and internal injuries caused by sexual assaults and shaking. Simpson, who was convicted of murder, sexual assault and child cruelty, must serve at least 27 years and 231 days; Walker, convicted of murder and child cruelty, must serve at least 21 years and 48 days.
