Mötley Crüe bassist and principal songwriter Nikki Sixx has said he no longer believes in making full-length albums, arguing that modern listening habits favour individual songs over 10-track releases. He said the band is likely to focus on releasing new music whenever inspiration strikes, allowing each track to receive more attention from both the band and listeners.

Sixx said an album of 10 songs can require writing around 20, yet audiences may only hear one track as radio and streaming continue to change. He pointed to the five new songs on 2019’s *The Dirt* soundtrack and the three-track 2024 *Cancelled* EP as the preferred model; the EP included “Cancelled”, “Dogs Of War” and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)”. Mötley Crüe’s last full studio album was 2008’s *Saints Of Los Angeles*, while guitarist John 5 replaced touring retiree Mick Mars in 2022.
