Motorcyclist dies after crashing on coastal road and falling into the sea

Daily Mail ·

A motorcyclist died after a collision on the outskirts of Llandudno on Thursday night, falling into the sea below the Great Orme. Police are investigating the incident as a fatal road collision and are seeking witnesses and information about a vehicle that may have been nearby.

The man was recovered from the water by helicopter and taken to Bangor, where he was pronounced dead; his family have been informed and the coroner notified. Police are looking for a black car, possibly a Ford Fiesta, seen travelling towards the Great Orme at about 10.26pm, and want to hear from anyone on Marine Drive between 10pm and 10.30pm, particularly those with dashcam footage.

In short

Explained simply

Llandudno is a seaside town in north Wales, and the Great Orme is a headland beside the town with a road, Marine Drive, running along its coast. The route passes steep ground above the sea, so a collision there can involve difficult access for emergency services.

North Wales Police investigate fatal road collisions and are asking people who were in the area to share relevant information. Witness accounts and dashcam footage can help establish what happened and whether any other vehicle was involved.
