Movistar Plus has unveiled part of its 2027 content slate at the San Sebastián Film Festival, featuring projects from prominent Spanish filmmakers including J. A. Bayona, Fernando León de Aranoa and Daniel Monzón. The announcements underline the streamer’s intention to strengthen support for Spain’s film industry and expand its investment in locally made stories.

The slate includes The Castaway, a comedy series written and directed by León de Aranoa, starring Belén Cuesta and David Verdaguer, plus a fictionalised series about preparations for the 1991 Barcelona Olympics opening ceremony. Bayona is executive-producing two non-fiction features, although no details were released; Movistar also promised to premiere one new Spanish film each week in 2027 and announced projects including A Family Visit, 250 Meters and a Moriartis-produced series.
