The mother of Ryan Theobald, who was murdered in a stabbing outside a Doncaster nightclub in 2022, has welcomed the installation of a knife surrender bin outside the city’s fire station. Lisa Theobald said removing knives and other weapons from the streets could save lives and prevent other families enduring a similar loss.

Ryan, 20, and Janis Kozlovskis, 17, were both killed by Amrit Jhagra, who is serving 26 years after his sentence was increased on appeal. The Doncaster bin is one of 45 being introduced nationwide by the Home Office, allowing people to dispose of dangerous weapons anonymously; local representatives said it should form part of wider efforts to prevent young people being drawn into gangs and knife crime.
