MUNA & UGG’s Back-to-School Collab Is About More Than Fashion — It’s About Self-Expression

Billboard · 3 hours ago

The indie-pop trio MUNA has partnered with footwear brand UGG on its 2026 back-to-school campaign, a collaboration built around themes of self-expression that reflects both the band's emotionally candid songwriting and its visual identity. UGG selected the group for this alignment, while MUNA said they agreed to the deal because those involved understood how to represent the band authentically, without compromising their identity. The partnership also extends UGG's existing support for LGBTQ+ and arts organisations, including Queer|Art and Chicxs Rockerxs South East Los Angeles.

The back-to-school range spans footwear and clothing for adults, children and toddlers, including slip-ons, updated mini boots, sneakers, cardigans and retro-style letterman jackets. UGG marked the launch with a party for MUNA in Los Angeles, where members Katie Gavin and Josette Maskin discussed the collaboration, queer fashion and their touring wardrobe. The band, whose latest album Dancing on the Wall was released in May, begins its Gets So Hot tour on 17 September, with UGGs reportedly the first thing they put on after coming off stage; members also reflected on how their personal style has evolved since meeting at university, moving from feelings of shame towards greater confidence in self-expression.
